It’s easy to become overwhelmed when it comes to container gardening. Gathering all of the necessary tools and materials, depending on the size of your container garden, might be an investment, but in the long run, container gardening can save you hundreds of dollars on fresh herbs, flowers, and food that you can now cultivate yourself. So if you’re new to container gardening, this article will give you a few tips that will help you get started.

1. Know your plant.

You should know what kind of plant you’re going to be growing in your container garden. Remember, you can grow herbs indoors or outdoors. Also check out the label on your plant to make sure that you’re going to be able to grow your herbs indoors or outdoors. Also check out the local gardening center to see what herbs are grown in your area.

2. Repotting is a vital step in your container gardening journey.

When repotting, you’ll be allowing the roots to grow out at their own pace and not just be stifled. Repotting should be done when the top soil is about half an inch deep. The next step after repotting is to trim the roots.

3. Watering.

Your herbs need to be watered. Once they’ve become established in their pots, you’ll find that they tend to dry out quickly. However, don’t over water. Allow them to dry out for a few days before watering again. Water in the mornings to reduce fungus growth. During the summer, your herbs might be thirsty. This is especially true during hot weather. Help them stay hydrated by placing them in the refrigerator.

4. Fertilizer.

Use a high potency fertilizer on your herb plants every 2 or 3 weeks. Doing this, will help the plants develop strong and beautiful roots. Regular fertilization is important when your plants are outdoor plants. If you’re using the plants indoors, you’ll need to fertilize every 3 or 4 weeks. You can also use an organic fertilizer.
