What is Organic Gardening?
Organic gardening is defined as gardening without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. It requires only using natural substances in your yard to develop plants. As it consumes natural resources, organic gardening restores them. It does not rely on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides to provide plant nutrients to the plants. Natural compost also provides plant nutrients through microbial action.

Organic gardening is much different from commercial gardening and soil farming. Commercial gardening uses fertilizers and pesticides to feed the plants. This is known as soil farming. Organically growing plants in your own garden is a small farm but of no use to the larger farm. Organic gardening has no large-scale machinery and the gardens are all individually tended. The vegetables grow through natural composting and the plants themselves draw nourishment from the earth. Organic gardening has no insecticides, fungicides or other chemicals. In the garden, the gardener uses her own natural chemicals.
Organic gardening is very healthy for the plants as well as the gardeners health. The gardener needs no pesticides or herbicides to control the bugs and diseases. The plants themselves defend themselves against these diseases naturally. The gardener can drink the juices of the garden’s vegetables to keep herself healthy.
Organic gardening is not restricted to the home garden. Many farmers and gardeners practice organic gardening to produce food for their own personal consumption.
Organic gardening can be taken very seriously by practicing other methods.
* Using compost
Composting involves recycling kitchen and garden waste in a liquid form. Composting improves soil structure and helps provide nutrients to plants. Using compost in your garden will improve soil condition in any area. This can be used as a top dressing in areas where top dressing is required.
* Using natural fertilizers
These contain the nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus that the vegetables need. Gardeners commonly use manure, blood meal, kelp meal and blood powder as natural fertilizers. These can be purchased in powder or liquid form and mixed directly into the soil. This can be used to repot plants or as a weed killer.
* Using an organic pest control
Use organic pest control for pest attack in the garden or infestation of worms in your garden area. This is simply adding the pest control to the vegetable garden. Organic pest control is best applied to your vegetables before they are attacked. This may be as early as two weeks before you expect them to be attacked. Organic pest control is extremely effective.

* Putting dill and sage in the garden
Dill and sage have a narcosis effect on aphids, thrips, spider mites and other pest insects. They repel them.
* Using mulch
Compost, straw, leaves are all forms of mulch. Mulching your vegetables will keep them from suffering from extreme temperatures and from other damage caused by snails, slugs, snails, cutworms, caterpillars and other pests. Mulch your plants during spring, fall, or during colder months. It will depend on the climactic conditions in your region. This will help your plants to grow faster and healthier. Organic mulch will help to protect your plants from drought and preserve moisture.
* Reusing mulch
Once you’ve created a pile of mulch for use, the mulch will not decompose. Creating compost will help to compost the mulch and you can use the compost as a mulch or a soil amendment.
* Using a trellis
A trellis or arbor can be used to support your plants. It will help to protect your plants from snails, slugs and other pests. This is especially important for tomatoes, peppers and other plants that would grow up and over a fence or house. Reusing a trellis will help to prevent pests from getting under your house and damaging it.
* Using a greenhouse
A greenhouse is a great way to grow your herbs and produce. Also using a greenhouse is important to encourage pollination and to prevent insects from destroying your plants. The greenhouse is a convenient place to grow your vegetables, while also giving you a convenient place to tend to the needs of your plants.

Organic farming produces food that is more nutritious and safe. Organic food is growing more popular as people seek out meals that are seen to be healthier and safer. As a result, organic food may ensure food safety from farm to fork. Organic farming is more environmentally friendly than conventional farming. Organic farming promotes consumer health by keeping soil healthy and maintaining environmental integrity.
